Follow these steps to get your Stripe account live and ready to accept payments.
Before you start, make sure you have:
A valid email address you control.

Your business website or description of services.

Your personal details (date of birth, home address) if required by Stripe for identity verification. Teachify+1
Go to stripe.com and click “Start now” or “Create account”. dashboard.stripe.com+1
Enter your email, full name, and set a secure password.
Verify your email by clicking the verification link Stripe sends you. Teachify+1
Once your account is created in test mode, you’ll need to activate it for live payments:
In your Stripe Dashboard, look for Activate Payments or similar. Stripe Docs
Provide your business details: legal entity type, business name, business address, industry. Merchant Maverick+1
Provide your personal/owner details for verification if requested.

Set up Two‑Factor Authentication (2FA) to secure your account. Merchant Maverick+1
Once all required information is submitted, Stripe will verify your account. You may see a status like Pending review. help.swimtopia.com+1
After verification you’ll be able to toggle from Test mode to Live mode to start accepting real payments.
Review payout schedules and payout method (typically every 2 business days after initial verification).
In Live mode, you can:

Embed Stripe Checkout or other integrations if needed.
Make sure client payments get deposited to your chosen bank account.
Monitor transactions in your Dashboard and check for any verification or compliance alerts from Stripe.
Keep your business and personal information up to date.
Use a strong password and avoid SMS alone for 2FA if possible.
Make sure your payment description on checkout pages clearly identifies your business so clients recognize charges.
If you run multiple separate businesses, consider separate Stripe accounts to avoid confusion and separate tax/filing issues. Merchant Maverick
Save your Stripe login and bank connection info securely—fraud or unauthorized changes can affect your payouts.
